Q: Tell us a bit about yourself and why do you do what you do?
A: I am the Founder and Director of Imvelo Ltd, which provides expert environmental consultancy and training to UK businesses to help meet the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Imvelo’s Environmental Consultancy Services have been carefully aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and international environmental management systems. Whilst, Environmental Training has been curated to give clients the skills and confidence they need to meet and surpass their own important environmental objectives.I am a Senior Environmental Consultant: holding an MSc in Environmental Management; a Practitioner Membership of IEMA (PIEMA); as well as being an IEMA/ IRCA Accredited Environmental Auditor. Tamma is also a member of the IEMA North East Steering Group and is actively involved as a STEM Ambassador.

Everything I do be it working with businesses and establishing sustainability strategies or training businesses to operate mindfully and efficiently is aimed to have a positive impact on the planet. We also help businesses mitigate environmental risks to their operations, which are sadly increasing because of Global Warming and Climate Change.

Q: If you would share some of your knowledge with others, what would you share?
A: It will be mainly the value of nature and eco-system services, how the sustainable development goals are the best roadmap we have for a better future and also how to invite and host hedgehogs in your garden.

Q: What is the biggest lesson you have learned?
A: As a founder of a business and a sustainability professional, I have learned that one should keep some room for uncertainty and plans to take a little longer to work out because sometimes things go into chaos before they fall into place. Only when you have extra space to juggle can you take a step or two back and try to fix things. I recently read this which stuck with me and is so beautiful, “Hope is fragile but immortal”

Q: How can people reading this, make a difference?
A: Firstly everyone needs to start with a purpose and know what they can do without going out of their way. You don’t have to become an activist to make a difference. But you need to believe in it to be able to be at it. Start small and add consistently to it, my best advice is to start thinking about the “stuff” that you consume – do you really need it? Sometimes saying no to unnecessary consumption is the best route to a more sustainable lifestyle, without really changing anything!
