Creating a strategy for long-term success.
Supporting Macleods Pharma UK Limited with their GHG Emissions Measurement, Net-Zero Transition Plan and Progress Tracking.
As an NHS supplier, Macleods Pharma UK Limited wanted to do more than meet expectations, they wanted to lead with purpose.
Facing complex requirements and the challenge of managing Scope 3 emissions across their supply chain, they needed clarity on how to build a credible, achievable net-zero plan. Together, we measured their Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, identified key impact areas, and co-created a strategy aligned with NHS goals and the Evergreen Sustainable Supplier Assessment. Now, they have a focused roadmap to 2050, a clear understanding of where to act first, and the confidence that their journey to net-zero is both practical and purposeful.

The challenge
As an NHS supplier, our client was committed to aligning with the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap and setting a clear path to achieve net-zero by 2050. They already had a general sense of where their highest-impact areas were but needed clarity on exactly what was required to meet expectations. With most of their emissions coming from Scope 3 emissions in their supply chain, they wanted to focus their efforts where they would make the biggest difference, ensure they had the right information for the Evergreen Sustainable Supplier Assessment, and build a credible plan that would meet current requirements while preparing them for future ones. They wanted to invest their time and resources wisely – creating a strategy that would set them up for long-term success.
What we did
We measured all relevant Scope 1 and Scope 2, and a subset of Scope 3 activities, to build a credible emissions baseline. We highlighted Scope 3 hotspots – the suppliers and activities driving the largest impacts – and provided practical guidance on the types of questions to ask and the data to collect to improve future reporting. Using recognised standards, we co-created a net-zero plan aligned with NHS requirements and clarified exactly what information they would need to report to the Evergreen Sustainable Supplier Assessment. The plan outlined short- and long-term actions they could take to move towards their 2050 target in a focused and achievable way.
How it helped
Our client now has a clear, NHS-aligned net-zero roadmap to 2050, centred on their most impactful areas. They have clarity on where to focus their time and resources, what information to report through the Evergreen Sustainable Supplier Assessment, and which suppliers to engage with first to strengthen Scope 3 emissions data. The process also highlighted what preparation may be needed to meet future expectations under the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap. With a structured plan in place, they can now move forward with confidence, knowing their efforts are well-directed and aligned with their long-term goals.
